Five Minute Friday - Jump

It's time for the "Five Minute Friday" blogging post. The inspiration comes from Lisa Jo Baker

What you do is set your timer for five minutes and write whatever you want according to the prompt Lisa places on her blog every Friday. Then you go back, link your blog and give support to those who posted before you. And, we connect on Twitter with #FiveMinuteFriday.

Ready.
Set.
Go.

Today was one of those days where I had to jump into action. First of all the power went out. A transformer blew at the end of our street. I had a doctor appointment that I needed to get ready for so I ended up taking a shower in the dark. If you've ever tried shaving under your arms in the dark, be so careful. I had to take it really slow. Then after I got dressed, I went out into the living room and found our hallway, wet room and around the 300 gallon saltwater aquarium flooded. The power going off reversed the pumps and they sucked water into the 100 gallon sump under the aquarium. More water than could fit flooded over the sump and onto the ceramic tile floor. Yes, we have ceramic tile instead of carpet for just such occasions. I had to use every spare towel we had to soak up the mess and I still couldn't get it all. Text messaging to hubby turned into a frantic phone call and him making the decision to come home from work and deal with it. What a mess! I jumped into action to get ready for my doctor appointment and headed out to the garage to leave in the Prius. Halted by an electronic garage door opener that didn't work with the power outage. So, I had to jump into action again by leaving out the front door and taking the minivan parked in the driveway.

Stop.

Dear Vicki, don't we all have days like this when we need to jump rather pretend it is not happening. I had one not too long ago and it is only the Lord that helps you to keep moving. I really hope that your day improved

As usual, hubby was the one who handled the mess and stress. By the time I returned from my doctor appointment, hubby had used the wet vac and sucked up all the water. The tile was dry. The power had been restored by the Electric company. Our little corner of the world was without chaos again.

Sorry, I am cracking up. I think you are so right though, we JUMP from crisis to crisis. Glad your hubs helped out! (visiting from 5MF)

You deserve a medal, all the "jumping" into action you did today!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has days like that ...

Hope you have a peaceful weekend!

I'm hoping for a peaceful weekend as well. I'm working on getting some meds straightened out and off to get my hair cut and colored this morning. Need some quiet "me" time.

At least it was a Friday so you could hopefully have a break after all that jumping!!

We had a small flood in our house on Thursday caused by an overflowing toilet on the second floor that caused water pouring down the ceiling of the first floor. This must be the week of the mini-flood. Blech. Glad your husband could JUMP into action too, and take care of it at home!! Stay dry!

Aren't floods the worst? It's amazing how much trouble can be caused by a couple inches of water. One good thing came out of it. We were able to give the floor a good cleaning. I love having all tile. We did that on purpose when we had one flood too many with carpeting. We carried the cleaning throughout the house and did all the floors. We felt productive over the weekend and now half my cleaning is done for this week already! Hubby was even feeling so productive he cleaned the garage!

My colleague is experiencing a "flood" of her own after her water heater went kirplunk and leaked into her closet. Why the water heater was in the attic is beyond me.

What a day! When it rains, it pours, doesn't it? Thank goodness you have tile! When I started reading that part, I just had such a sinking feeling and was so relieved when you said you had tile!! Glad your hubby came home to deal with it...mine would have gotten a frantic phone call too!!
