Hey kiddies and not so kiddie-ish!
Halloween is here and that means tempting candy is close at hand. Ever wonder which ones are "better" for you than the others?
I did to. So I found this article from Lifescript. Trick or Treat: What's Good to Eat?
I suggest you read it and tell me what you think.
While you're at it, tell me what your favorite Halloween candy was when you were a kid. Mine was and still is Tootsie Rolls. And, guess what I got to give out? Tootsie Rolls. Yep, and I'm going to be stingy too, so I"ll have some left over for me. Mawaaahaahaahaaa!!
What's your most memorable Halloween? Mine was when I was about 5 years old. I was washing dishes and a top from a can slid into the water. It sliced my left thumb. I went around as a fairy princess with a great big bandage on my thumb. I had to show everyone and tell them the whole story. I still have the scar.
So, have a Happy Halloween and for those that practice, Happy Samhain.

My favorite candy is Snickers. And, yes, I like to freeze them and eat them that way--makes them kind of like a mixture of ice cream and chocolate.
We live in a rural neighborhood and haven't had trick or treaters for years. Nonetheless, I always buy at least one bag of Snickers just in case and, of course, end up eating them myself. Happy Halloween and here's to a good sugar rush!
How funny, Eileen, we buy Snickers, too. We didn't have any trick or treaters, so guess it will be left up to me and Chuck to devour the spoil.
When we were kids, there wasn't the variety of candy that there is now. Can you imagine the fun we would have had with Pop Rocks? My favorite were the peanut butter kisses that came in orange paper. Remember those?
Vicki, Tootsie rolls aren't so bad for you..enjoy them!
Eileen, I'm not a big Snickers fan. Don't like eating peanuts with my chocolate. We didn't get any trick or treaters this year. So, all the tootsie rolls are mine.. all mine!!!
Hi Pam, You're right, there really wasn't that much of a variety. I remember the Bit'o Honey candy. Do they still make those?
I remember the peanut butter kisses. They were in orange or black paper.
And, you're right. Tootsie Rolls aren't so bad. Just gotta eat them in moderation. Sigh. No binging.
Not a tootsie roll fan here, I love Heath bars. Behaving myself and skipping the candy this year, but did have some of my son's Almond Joy Birthday cake.
For me the fun was in dressing up, going around the neighborhood, seeing each other's costumes.
Not too many trick or treaters this year.
Halloween was a great time for me as a kid. Back then the whole neighborhood participated for blocks and I remember going home to empty my bag a few times. Even the stores gave out candy. And...(you won't believe this) there was a bar not far from our house and the customers would give us kids quarters. That was the one time I was allowed to go in. It was great before I learned what the holiday originally represented. That put a damper on things. By the way, I do love refrigerated Snickers. Mmmmmm.
Heidi, I think it's a sign of the times that we're going to see fewer and fewer trick or treaters in our neighborhoods. They're going to be hitting the malls and going to parties. Parents aren't going to feel safe anymore wandering neighborhoods, even their own.
Karen, do you remember the UNICEF boxes? Do kids still do that?
Chocolate covered raisins...my downfall...my addiction!
But a tootsie roll can be used in case of a chocolate ER ! :) LOL
